Thousands of worshippers, gospel music lovers and members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God gathered at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, on Friday night for the second edition of the RCCG Mega Music Festival.

The programme, tagged Mega Music Festival 2.0, was held on June 12, 2026, with the theme, “A New Season.” It brought together worshippers from Lagos, Ogun and other parts of the country for a night of praise, prayers, worship and prophetic declarations.

The festival featured a strong line-up of gospel ministers and worship leaders who had been announced ahead of the event. Among those listed to minister were Nathaniel Bassey, Dunsin Oyekan, Yinka Alaseyori, Bidemi Olaoba, Gospel Force and other music ministers.

Church leaders described the gathering as more than a gospel concert, saying it was designed as a spiritual meeting where worshippers would pray for individuals, families, Lagos State and Nigeria. The programme combined music ministrations with thanksgiving, intercession and declarations for what the organisers called a new season for the nation.

The choice of Tafawa Balewa Square also carried historical significance. RCCG officials noted that the venue remains one of Nigeria’s most symbolic national spaces, having been associated with the country’s independence history and major public gatherings.

Holding the festival on Democracy Day added another layer of meaning to the event. Organisers said the gathering was intended to raise prayers for Nigeria’s economy, education, security, innovation, families and national renewal.

Pastor Sola Olukoya, Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Youth Affairs, had said during the build-up to the programme that RCCG believed worship and prayer could inspire hope and transformation in the country. He said the church was using the festival to encourage faith, unity and positive national expectation.

The General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, was billed to pronounce a Father’s Blessing and prophetic declaration over Nigeria. Senior ministers, including Pastor J. F. Odesola and Pastor J. T. Kalejaiye, were also listed among those expected to lead prayer sessions.

Beyond the worship sessions, the festival also carried a youth empowerment message. RCCG used the event to promote the RCCG Young Adult and Youth Tech Fellowship, an initiative designed to train more than 100,000 young adults and youths in technology-related skills.

The fellowship, organised by RCCG Young Adults and Youth Affairs in partnership with Reach4Christ, is expected to provide four months of practical training in areas such as data analysis, product development, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, software development and digital innovation.

Organisers said more than 5,000 volunteers had been mobilised for the event, covering security, logistics, medical support, sanitation, ushering and crowd management. Free buses were also arranged from designated locations in Lagos and Ogun states to help convey worshippers to and from the venue.

The RCCG Mega Music Festival 2.0 ended as one of the major Christian gatherings held in Lagos during the Democracy Day period, drawing attention not only for its music and worship sessions but also for its message of national prayer, youth engagement and spiritual renewal.
