Under the new arrangement, candidates seeking admission into Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes with a minimum of four credit passes will no longer be required to write the UTME before gaining admission.

The exemption also covers candidates applying for National Diploma (ND) programmes in non-technology agricultural and other agriculture-related courses.

Despite the waiver, JAMB clarified that all affected candidates must still register with the Board. Their academic credentials will undergo proper screening, verification, and certification before admission letters are issued through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), in accordance with existing admission regulations.

The policy is expected to widen access to tertiary education, particularly in the areas of teacher education and agriculture, while maintaining transparency and due process in the admission system.
