From Dispatch Room
The Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of making what it described as false allegations against members of the All Progressives Congress in a bid to gain public sympathy ahead of the August governorship election.
In a statement issued on May 11, 2026, the APC campaign council dismissed recent allegations by the governor accusing opposition supporters of violence and vandalism across the state.
The council described the accusations as reckless, baseless, and politically motivated.
According to the statement signed by Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, Head of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, Governor Adeleke had allegedly turned against security agencies after they refused to act outside constitutional and legal boundaries regarding the local government leadership dispute in the state.
The APC claimed that the governor expected security agencies, including the police, DSS, and NSCDC, to disregard court judgments relating to the reinstatement of APC-led local government officials.
The opposition party further alleged that some individuals associated with the governor were linked to criminal activities and ongoing security investigations.
Among those mentioned was Olalekan Emir Ajagungbade, identified in the statement as a Special Assistant to the governor, who the APC alleged was wanted in connection with cases involving murder, kidnapping, and terrorism.
The party also referenced Nurudeen Alawonle, another alleged associate of the governor, claiming he had previously been arrested with a firearm and ammunition.
The APC urged Governor Adeleke to hand over the individuals mentioned to security agencies for investigation and prosecution.
The statement also alleged that recent vandalisation of campaign billboards belonging to Governor Adeleke resulted from internal disagreements among groups allegedly mobilised for political activities within the governor’s political structure.
The APC maintained that it remained a law-abiding political party and denied involvement in any form of political violence or destruction of campaign materials.
The party insisted that Governor Adeleke’s administration had lost public support due to alleged poor governance, political vendetta, and divisive politics.
It added that no amount of propaganda or emotional blackmail would alter what it described as the political realities ahead of the governorship election.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from Governor Adeleke or the Osun State Government regarding the allegations raised by the APC campaign council.
