A campaign outing in Edo State nearly ended in tragedy after a vehicle conveying members of the campaign team of Iyere Ernest Ahamioje, an APC aspirant for the Edo State House of Assembly, Esan South East Constituency, reportedly overturned along the campaign route in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area of the state.
Ahamioje, who is pursuing his 2027 House of Assembly ambition to represent Esan South East Constituency, shared the update in a Facebook post, saying the incident occurred while his team was on the campaign trail in Ewohimi.
Photographs from the scene showed a campaign-branded vehicle lying upside down by the roadside, with security personnel and bystanders gathered around the accident scene. Some personal items and campaign materials could also be seen around the overturned vehicle.
In his post, Ahamioje expressed gratitude to God for preserving the lives of members of his campaign team, describing their survival as an act of divine mercy and protection.
“If it had not been for the Lord who stood by us, today would have told a different story,” he wrote.
He said the incident had strengthened the resolve of the campaign team, adding that they would continue with “deeper faith, stronger conviction, and a renewed purpose to serve our people.”
Ahamioje also thanked God that “every single life” was preserved, saying the team remained alive and safe despite the severity of the crash.
The cause of the accident was not immediately stated in the post. Details of whether anyone sustained injuries were also not provided as of the time of filing this report.
The vehicle bore campaign posters promoting Ahamioje’s 2027 ambition for the Edo State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The incident has drawn reactions from supporters and well-wishers, many of whom joined him in thanking God for the survival of the campaign team.
