Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has accused former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, of plotting to disrupt the August 15, 2026 governorship election in the state.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke alleged that opposition figures within the Osun APC were resorting to desperate measures because they feared defeat at the poll.
The governor claimed that internal opinion surveys allegedly commissioned by the APC between the last quarter of 2025 and March 2026 placed the party’s popularity below 30 percent, while his approval rating reportedly stood between 68 and 72 percent.
Adeleke also alleged that the opposition’s desperation increased after reports that there would be no federal interference in the Osun election.
The statement further accused Oyetola and his allies of attempting to create political instability through the local government crisis, alleged harassment of government loyalists, and efforts to prevent Adeleke from appearing on the ballot.
It also claimed that opposition figures tried to factionalise political platforms such as Accord and later pushed for deregistration after failing to achieve their aim.
Adeleke maintained that the people of Osun would reject the APC at the poll and insisted that his administration remained confident of victory.
He said the opposition was afraid of the people and the power of the ballot, adding that the democratic rights of voters must not be undermined.
