Women across Akwa Ibom State on Thursday gathered to celebrate Governor Umo Eno ahead of his 62nd birthday, marked on Friday, April 24, 2026, in a show of solidarity and appreciation for his leadership.
The pre-birthday celebration took place during the April edition of the Women Monthly Prayer held at the Government House Banquet Hall in Uyo. Leading the event, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Inibehe Silas, described the Governor as a champion of inclusive governance, noting that women in the state have benefitted from unprecedented appointments into strategic government positions.
Hon. Silas, who led representatives of various women stakeholder groups in cutting a birthday cake in honour of the Governor, said the gathering provided an opportunity for women to celebrate him ahead of his official birthday. She emphasized that the Governor’s gender-sensitive approach has opened new pathways for women’s participation in governance.
She also commended the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, for her sustained humanitarian outreach and support for the ARISE Agenda, particularly through initiatives targeted at vulnerable groups.
Delivering an exhortation themed “Ceaseless Celebration,” Evangelist Becky Udom encouraged believers to maintain a close relationship with God, highlighting grace, spiritual discipline, and positive human connections as key to sustained joy and fulfillment. She urged participants to avoid actions that could hinder spiritual growth and divine purpose.
As part of the activities, women born in the month of April led a thanksgiving session and presented back-to-school items in support of the Golden Initiative for All (GIFA). The symbolic cake-cutting ceremony featured key figures including Hon. Inibehe Silas, APC State Woman Leader Obonganwan Obonodo Uko, and Mrs. Nyakno Okoko.
Special intercessory prayers were also offered for peace, security, and continued development in Akwa Ibom State, as well as for the Governor, his Deputy, and other government officials.
The event featured musical ministration by the Women of Faith Choir of All Nations Christian Ministry International (ANCMI), Eket, and was attended by dignitaries including the Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, Justice Ekaette Obot, and Mrs. Bassey Johnson, among others.
