Lamine Yamal will miss the remainder of FC Barcelona’s season due to injury but is expected to recover in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the club has confirmed.
The 18-year-old forward sustained a muscle injury in his left leg during Barcelona’s 1-0 victory over Celta Vigo, where he scored the winning goal before signaling discomfort and leaving the pitch.
Barcelona stated that Yamal will undergo a conservative treatment process and will be sidelined for the club’s remaining La Liga fixtures. However, medical assessments indicate he should be fit to represent Spain national football team at the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Yamal has been one of Barcelona’s standout performers this season, contributing significantly with goals and assists across all competitions. His absence is expected to impact the club’s final stretch as they maintain their lead at the top of the La Liga standings.
Barcelona currently hold a nine-point advantage over rivals Real Madrid, with key fixtures ahead, including an anticipated clash at Camp Nou.
Head coach Hansi Flick is expected to adjust his attacking options in Yamal’s absence, with potential replacements including Roony Bardghji or tactical changes to the team’s forward line.
