Gov Radda upgrades district, village heads’ pay in Katsina

Governor of Katsina State Dikko Umaru Radda, has approved a new grading structure for traditional rulers as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots governance and security in the state.

The development was disclosed in a post shared on his official page.

According to the governor, the reform is being implemented under the 2025 Emirate Law, placing district heads on Grade Level 16 while village heads are to be placed on Grade Level 10 across the state.

Radda said the move is aimed at improving the welfare of traditional rulers and enhancing their role in promoting peace, stability and development at the community level.

“This reform reflects our strong commitment to strengthening traditional institutions and improving their capacity to support peace and grassroots development,” he said.

He added that the initiative followed collaboration with the Local Government Service Commission, traditional rulers and other stakeholders.

The governor further noted that the state has begun to record improvements in its security situation, attributing it to joint efforts between government, security agencies and community leaders.

He stressed that continued cooperation among stakeholders would remain key to sustaining progress in the state.
