The State Coordinator, Office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Noble Lady Helen Eno Obareki, has extended her heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Ekaette Moses Essien, wife of the lawmaker representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, following the death of her mother, Late Deaconess Mandu Emmanuel George, who passed on at the age of 87.
The condolence message was delivered on her behalf by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Inibehe Silas Etukudo, during the funeral service held last Saturday. The service, conducted by the Apostolic Church Ata Inim District, took place at the UBE Primary School Grounds in Uruk Uso, Otoro, Abak Local Government Area.
In her message, Lady Obareki described the loss of a mother as deeply painful, noting that while grief is inevitable, the family can find comfort in the late Deaconess’ life of faith, service, and positive impact on her community.
She encouraged Mrs. Essien, her husband, and the entire family to draw strength from the love and support of those around them, as well as from the cherished memories shared with the deceased. She also prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed soul and for divine strength for the bereaved family during this difficult time.
The funeral ceremony drew attendance from members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and their spouses, government officials, and other dignitaries who gathered to honour the life and legacy of the late Deaconess.
Members of the delegation from the Office of the First Lady included the Chairman of Esit Eket Local Government Council, Hon. Uduak Ikot; the President of Uyo Senatorial District Women Forum, Dr. Ekaette Ebong Okon; and the Honorary Special Adviser on Women Mobilisation, Uyo Senatorial District, Mrs. Elsie Esara.
