The Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball have won the 2026 NCAA men’s basketball championship after defeating the UConn Huskies men’s basketball 69–63 in the final held in Indianapolis.

The victory marks Michigan’s first national title since 1989 and the second in the program’s history, following a dominant season that saw the Wolverines finish with a 37–3 record.

Michigan led by four points at halftime and stretched the lead into double digits in the second half before UConn mounted a late comeback. The Huskies reduced the deficit to four points in the closing moments, but Michigan held on to secure the win.

Guard Elliot Cadeau delivered a standout performance, scoring 19 points and earning the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player award. His contributions proved decisive in key moments of the game.

Despite struggles from three-point range, Michigan relied on strong defensive play and interior dominance, limiting UConn to 31 percent shooting. Late defensive stops and free throws helped the Wolverines maintain control in the final minutes.
