A socio-political group, Osun Democrats for Democracy (ODD), has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State of launching what it described as a sustained campaign against media houses and journalists across the state.
In a statement issued on April 1, 2026, and signed by its Director of Operations and Public Affairs, Adeyefa Adeyemo, the group alleged that recent criticisms of media organisations, including Rave FM, represent an attempt to intimidate journalists and suppress independent reporting.
The group described the alleged actions of the APC as “desperate and futile,” arguing that they reflect discomfort with what it called a more assertive and independent media landscape in the state.
According to ODD, accusations of bias by the APC are misplaced and stem from an unwillingness to accept scrutiny and accountability. The group maintained that the current media environment in Osun State is becoming more professional and less susceptible to political influence.
It further argued that the era of media manipulation and coercion is fading, attributing this shift to what it described as a people-focused governance approach under Ademola Adeleke.
The statement also criticised reported attacks on journalists and presenters, particularly those involved in political programmes, stating that asking critical questions should not be interpreted as hostility.
ODD dismissed allegations that media platforms manipulate public participation or suppress dissenting views, describing such claims as attempts to discredit outlets that are no longer aligned with political interests.
The group urged media practitioners in Osun State to remain committed to professional standards, resist intimidation, and continue to prioritise truth and accountability in their work.
It added that public perception of political actors is shaped largely by their conduct, suggesting that parties should reflect on their actions rather than attribute criticism to media bias.
The development highlights growing tensions between political actors and media institutions in Osun State, particularly as debates over accountability, governance, and public perception continue to intensify.
