The Lere Students Movement (LSM) has dismissed what it described as “ranting from enemies of progress,” reaffirming its unwavering endorsement of Ademola Adeleke for a second term and Lere Oyewumi for re-election.

In a statement released to the public, the Movement stated that it would not be distracted by individuals whose actions and utterances do not reflect the interest of Ikire and Osun State at large. According to LSM, the focus remains on sustained development and the continuity of good governance currently being experienced across the state.

The group emphasized that the dividends of democracy delivered under the present administration represent a clear departure from what it described as years of stagnation under previous leadership. It noted that the progress recorded within a short period has restored hope and confidence among the people, particularly students and youths.

Highlighting key achievements, LSM pointed to significant infrastructural development under Governor Adeleke, including the rehabilitation and construction of over 150 kilometers of roads, the upgrade of more than 200 primary healthcare centres, and the provision of over 300 motorised boreholes to improve water access. The Movement also acknowledged ongoing landmark projects such as the dualisation of major roads and the construction of strategic flyovers, alongside a major investment commitment exceeding ₦100 billion to further boost development across the state.

In the education sector, the Movement commended the administration for rehabilitating hundreds of classrooms, strengthening technical and tertiary education, and advancing digital learning through ICT-driven policies. The activation and development of the University of Ilesa, alongside improved staffing and infrastructure, were also highlighted as notable strides that directly benefit students.

LSM further applauded the government’s efforts in agriculture and food security, citing the procurement of modern farming equipment, distribution of improved seedlings, and the launch of large-scale agricultural initiatives aimed at empowering thousands of farmers and enhancing productivity across Osun State.

The Movement maintained that these achievements are clear indicators of purposeful leadership and should not be disrupted. It stressed that students and the wider Ikire community are determined to sustain this progress by supporting both Governor Adeleke and Senator Oyewumi at the polls.

“We will not allow the gains recorded in Osun State to be reversed. The people are already witnessing impactful governance, and we are committed to ensuring its continuity through our collective support,” the statement read.

The Lere Students Movement concluded by urging all stakeholders to remain focused, ignore distractions, and continue to support leaders who have demonstrated capacity, commitment, and tangible results.
