The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, was at the head of the delegation from the office of the First Lady, Akwa Ibom State, to Mbak Etoi in Uyo Local Government Area, for the joining of Mr Victor Preacher and former Miss Abasiofiok Joseph, according to native laws and customs.

Addressing the couple at the conclusion of the traditional marriage rites, Lady Helen Obareki who congratulated Victor – a Personal Assistant to the Governor on Support Groups, for honouring his promises to his wife, expressed delight over witnessing the union of the couple and publicly expressed her pride and support as they begin their marital voyage.

“I am particularly delighted to be here to watch the joining of Preacher and his beautiful wife,” she said, noting that it was a privilege to stand as a mother figure and witness their union in the presence of family members and well-wishers.

Describing the groom as more than a staff, Lady Obareki who said Preacher had proven himself to be a worthy son to her, a relationship she acknowledged with pride, also spoke warmly about the bride, saying she was impressed by her humility when they first met. She added that if her character matched her beauty, then the groom had indeed made a wonderful choice.

Reassuring the couple of her continued support, she said she would always be available to them in whatever capacity they needed, whether as a mother, sister or friend and congratulated the couple on behalf of her family.

“I pray that the friendship that sustained your relationship over the years will remain strong even as you begin life as husband and wife. May your marriage be joyful, peaceful and fruitful. You will experience financial breakthrough, shared successes, lasting love and most importantly, achieve together, a lot of things that might have been difficult individually”, she added.
The traditional rites of marriage between Victor who hails from Iwok Obio Aduang in Nsit Atai Local Government Area, and his bride Victoria from Mbak Atai, had earlier, at a symbolic ceremony at St. Dominic Primary School, Mbak Etoi,
sought and received the consent of their families to unite in starting a family of their own.
Lady Helen Eno Obareki attended the traditional marriage ceremony in the company of the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon Inibehe Silas, wife of the member representing Nsit Ibom State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs Nsikak-Abasi Eric Akpan, wife of the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Grace Umoh, wife of the Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government Council, Mrs Imaobong Alfred, and some members of the First Family.
Other personalities at the ceremony were members of the National and State Assembly, Chairmen of Local Government Councils, Aides to the Governor, staff of the office of the First Lady, as well as relatives and friends of the bride and groom.
