Uncertainty continues to surround the fate of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, following large-scale joint military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel across multiple Iranian targets.
Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said there were “growing signs” that Iran’s supreme leader may no longer be alive after attacks struck locations linked to Iran’s senior leadership in Tehran. Satellite imagery reviewed by international media shows extensive damage to parts of the compound associated with Khamenei, though no independent confirmation of his condition has emerged.
Iranian authorities have not confirmed the death of the supreme leader. Officials in Tehran have said they are unable to verify the status of senior figures targeted in the strikes, and there has been no public address or appearance by Khamenei since the attacks. Earlier comments from Iranian officials suggested he was believed to be alive, but those statements have not been updated.
The strikes represent a sharp escalation in the conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. Israel says hundreds of munitions were deployed against military, missile, and security facilities across Iran, while the US has described the operation as “major combat operations.” President Donald Trump has urged Iranians to challenge their government, framing the assault as a decisive moment for the country.
Iran has responded with retaliatory attacks across the Middle East, targeting Israeli cities and several countries hosting US military installations. Missile strikes and interceptions have been reported in parts of the Gulf, including Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
Iran’s Red Crescent says more than 200 people have been killed since the strikes began, with hundreds more injured across multiple provinces. As diplomatic pressure mounts and emergency discussions loom at the United Nations, the absence of clear confirmation from Tehran has left Iran’s political future, and the status of its most powerful figure, in question.
