Newspot Nigeria proudly congratulates Professor Janet A. Akinmoladun on her elevation to the rank of Professor of Radiology at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, effective February 17, 2026, a milestone that crowns a career marked by depth, discipline, and distinction.
This achievement reflects years of sustained scholarship and clinical excellence. Trained at Obafemi Awolowo University, where she earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2001, Professor Akinmoladun later attained dual specialist fellowships in Radiology, FMCR and FWACS, in 2011. Her appointment as Lecturer I in March 2016 set in motion a steady, merit-driven ascent to full professorship, anchored in teaching, research, and service.
Within the Department of Radiology and as a Consultant Radiologist at University College Hospital, Ibadan, she has built a formidable reputation in prenatal, fetal, paediatric, and obstetric imaging. Her scholarly contributions, spanning prenatal ultrasound screening, congenital anomalies, Doppler studies, and diagnostic radiology in resource-limited settings, have helped shape clinical practice and training across Nigeria. Her work is respected not only for its rigor, but for its practical relevance to patient care.
Equally compelling is her commitment to mentorship. Professor Akinmoladun has trained and supervised medical students, resident doctors, and postgraduate trainees, while organizing lectures, seminars, and revision courses across radiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, and family medicine. Her international exposure, including a pediatric imaging fellowship in 2018, further strengthened her ability to translate global best practices into local impact.
Beyond academia and medicine, Professor Akinmoladun also serves as a Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, embodying a rare and powerful integration of faith, service, and professional excellence. Her pastoral ministry speaks to character, compassion, and leadership, qualities that enrich her teaching, deepen her mentorship, and humanize her clinical work.
Her elevation is therefore more than a personal triumph. It is an affirmation of a life committed to healing bodies, training minds, and uplifting souls. It strengthens the intellectual and moral capital of the University of Ibadan and offers a compelling example to the next generation of scholars and clinicians.
Newspot Nigeria celebrates Professor Janet A. Akinmoladun, scientist, teacher, physician, and pastor, and wishes her continued impact, influence, and grace in this new chapter of leadership.
