The Osun Democrats for Democracy (ODD) has strongly rejected what it described as a “reckless and fictional” smear campaign allegedly orchestrated against Governor Ademola Adeleke and his political allies, declaring that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State is facing an irreversible internal collapse.
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by its Director of Operations and Public Affairs, Adeyefa Adeyemo, the group dismissed allegations by a group identifying itself as the Osun Central Elite Caucus, which claimed that inducements were offered to Alhaji Moshood Adeoti.
ODD described the claims as “false, malicious, and deliberately crafted,” insisting that no kobo of state resources, inducement, secret arrangement, or backdoor transaction exists. According to the group, the allegations are a calculated distraction from what it called the “visible implosion” within the opposition.
The pro-democracy group accused the Osun APC of suffering from deep internal divisions, loss of cohesion, and the sidelining of its long-standing political figures. It argued that the opposition’s alleged resort to conspiracy theories reflects panic rather than strength.
“The opposition, particularly the APC, is a party in visible decline,” the statement said, adding that a party unable to manage its internal affairs lacks the moral authority to question others.
ODD further stated that Governor Adeleke does not require political inducements to remain relevant, stressing that his administration stands on its governance record and growing public acceptance across the state.
The group challenged those behind the allegations to provide credible and verifiable evidence to support their claims, warning that anything short of that confirms the accusations as baseless propaganda.
While noting that it would not engage in endless exchanges over unfounded claims, ODD maintained that it would also not allow falsehoods to circulate unchallenged in the public space.
The statement concluded with a sharp rebuke of the opposition, accusing the Osun APC of engaging in political theatrics to mask its internal decay.
