Social Media Influencers operating as Media Groups for individuals running for public office have become power brokers and a veritable source of extortion in Ondo State similar to what Pa Adedibu and his cohorts used to do at Ibadan and Oyo State Politics.
Ibadan Mesi Ogo, Omo a j’Egbin je Karaun” offers the most sophisticated Political System in the Yoruba Southwest which has beaten old Oyo Alaafin and its Oyo Mesi System that the British Colonial Masters had found and recognized as the reason to adopt their indirect rule improvisation in Nigeria.
A new trend is emerging in some of the 6 States of the Southwest and most especially Ondo and Ekiti where I come from and which I am much more familiar with.
The development has been aided and fastracked by Computer technology and currently by Artificial Intelligence manipulations which have now created a new cadre of Social Media Influencers and manipulators who are now two for a penny in Ondo and Ekiti but more so in Ondo State where they have now become the power brokers and the real powers behind the throne in the era of Aiyedatiwa as Governor of Ondo State.
It was only in Ibadan where political God fathers have become institutionalized by the genius and the wizardry of mavericks and political juggernauts and political Godfathers like Pa Adedibu and his cohorts of political jobbers like Comrade Mohammed Adebayo Dada, a product of the Adedibu School of Politics who has become one of the best analyst of the Nigerian Political History I have found on the Agbaletu TV Podcast moderated by Dele Adeyanhju.
Pa Adedibu and his uuÿyboys believe they own the Government of Oyo State in perpetuity and every State Governor must dance to their tune and take care of them to gurantee their survival in Oyo State Politics.
Pa Adedibu during his life time had believed that he and his boys and cohorts were entitled to no less than 20 percent of all revenues coming to Oyo State from the Federal Government.
Former Governor Abdul Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja who had tried to curb the excesses of Pa Adedibu but failed as Pa Adedibu had
colluded with President Obasanjo to have the Governor removed and replaced by Governor Akala
But Governor Ladoja had sought a redress in Court and he won and he was reinstated.
The same Ladoja had managed to survive long enough to be crowned the most powerful Olubadan who was a one- time Senator and a one- time Governor and now the most powerful Olubadan of Ibadan ever in the History of Ibadan.
The new emerging Social Media Influencers in Ondo State have become the new power brokers in Ondo without whose support you cannot be anything in Ondo State Politics
They are prepared vto sell you a lemon used car and they make you believe you are buying a brand new vehicle. They want you to believe not what you see with your own eyes but they want you to see and believe
They now want to dictate to the voters who can best represent the interest of Ondo State at the local, state and federal levels.
Part of the goal of this article is to expose them before they create an irreversible havoc or damage in Ondo State .
They are all busy extorting anybody who wants to run for public office in Ondo State and taking their money to feed fat upon for their selfish interest.
They want to emulate or replicate the Pa Adedibu model in Ibadan, if we let them and we must not let them.
