🔴 Breaking News:

Barely hours after Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, announced his resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), the party’s national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, held a meeting with various Kwankwasiyya groups at his residence on Miller Road, Kano.

The groups, drawn from different parts of the state, visited Kwankwaso to reaffirm their loyalty and pledge continued support for his political ideology.

Addressing the gathering, Kwankwaso urged young people and members of the Kwankwasiyya movement to remain steadfast and principled, warning them against being influenced by money or political inducements.

“Our presence here today is based on ideology,” he said. “If we had allowed greed to guide us, we would have been bought with money long ago.”

Although Kwankwaso did not directly mention Governor Yusuf or explicitly refer to his defection from the NNPP, political observers believe the remarks were a subtle response to the governor’s decision to leave the party.

Earlier on Friday, Governor Yusuf formally announced his resignation from the NNPP, citing what he described as persistent internal crises within the party. The development was contained in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

According to the statement, the governor conveyed his resignation in a letter addressed to the NNPP chairman in his ward at Diso, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.

The twin developments have further intensified political realignments in Kano, with analysts closely watching their implications for the state’s political landscape ahead of future contests.
