Slot is hoping the added pace of Frimpong at right-back can make up for the absence of Liverpool’s top scorer Ekitike, who misses out through injury tonight.
‘Missing out on players is never nice, and it makes it harder if the other option is also unavailable. Indeed, pace is a big weapon to have against any opponent, but definitely against a team that usually dominates possession,’ the Liverpool boss told Sky Sports when asked about the loss of Ekitike.
‘We have to adjust looking at the players we have available, looking at the qualities Arsenal have, and come up with, in my opinion, the best possible game-plan.’
The Dutchman added: ‘We brought in a bit of pace with Frimpong, I’ve said that he has been out for three or four months, not constantly but mainly.
‘Then he had to play a few games in a row, so I decided to use him as a sub against Fulham so he is available tonight.’
‘Of course after a spell of time these players are more than capable to play every single game, but if they have been out for a few months it is a risk, so you have to adjust.’
