Honourable Francis Bartholomew Chima, popularly known as OmoBarca, has welcomed former Anambra State governor Peter Obi into the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing his emergence in the party as a defining moment for Nigeria’s democratic future.
In a congratulatory message issued on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, OmoBarca expressed optimism over Peter Obi’s formal alignment with the ADC in Enugu, saying the development strengthens the party’s credibility as a platform for integrity, reform, and people-centred governance.
OmoBarca, who joined the ADC in September 2025 and is seeking to contest the 2027 House of Representatives election for Ajeromi–Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Lagos State, said Obi’s entry represents both a personal honour and a collective milestone for party members nationwide.
According to him, Peter Obi’s political record, defined by prudence, accountability, and commitment to responsible leadership, aligns closely with the core values of the ADC and the aspirations of Nigerians seeking a credible alternative to the dominant political order.
“Today marks a turning point for our great party. The decision of Mr Peter Obi to provide leadership within the ADC is a powerful affirmation that we are on the right path. It strengthens our resolve to build a Nigeria that works for everyone, not just a privileged few,” OmoBarca said.
He noted that the ADC has continued to evolve into a home for reform-minded politicians and citizens who believe in transparency, fiscal discipline, and inclusive development, adding that Obi’s presence would further sharpen the party’s ideological clarity and expand its national appeal ahead of the 2027 general elections.
OmoBarca described Obi’s entry as more than a political defection, calling it a convergence of shared vision, values, and purpose. He said the development sends a strong signal to Nigerians, especially young people and grassroots communities, that credible political alternatives are emerging and gaining structure.
“As someone preparing to represent the resilient people of Ajeromi-Ifelodun under the ADC banner, I am deeply encouraged. Peter Obi’s presence strengthens our grassroots message and reassures voters that the party stands for competence, character, and capacity,” he stated.
The Lagos-based politician expressed confidence that with unity, discipline, and collective sacrifice, the ADC under Peter Obi’s leadership could evolve into a formidable political force capable of reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape and restoring public trust in governance.
He concluded by congratulating Peter Obi on his leadership role within the party and reaffirmed his commitment to working with other stakeholders to translate the renewed momentum into electoral success and tangible benefits for Nigerians.
OmoBarca described December 31, 2025, as more than a symbolic date, calling it the beginning of a renewed sense of hope and a bold journey toward a more just, accountable, and prosperous Nigeria under the African Democratic Congress.
