The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has issued a public disclaimer distancing itself from a circulating message soliciting financial support for an alleged “End of Year Whistle Blowing and Anti-Corruption Reports Submissions” programme.
According to the Commission, the message claims that the event is scheduled to hold between December 17 and 22 at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Headquarters and is purportedly signed by one Dandaura Takalis, PhD, who claims to represent a Coalition of Civil Society and Human Rights Organisation.

In a statement signed by the ICPC’s Spokesperson and Head of Media and Public Communications, J. Okor Odey, ANIPR, the Commission stated clearly that it has no knowledge of the individual, the organisation, or the programme being advertised.
The ICPC stressed that it was never contacted, consulted, or involved in any capacity regarding the purported event, adding that the use of its name in the message is unauthorized and misleading.
The Commission therefore disassociated itself completely from the announcement and warned members of the public to exercise utmost caution. Nigerians were strongly advised not to make any financial contributions or provide support of any kind, as the message bears clear indications of a scam.
Reaffirming its mandate, the ICPC noted that it remains committed to transparent and accountable anti-corruption efforts and urged citizens to always verify information relating to the Commission through its official communication channels.
The Commission encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious solicitations or impersonation attempts to the appropriate authorities.
