The administration of the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has released a comprehensive three-year education sector progress scorecard, detailing reforms, infrastructure expansion, teacher welfare initiatives, and renewed student support programs.

The scorecard reveals that the state government rehabilitated 120 schools, with additional schools currently undergoing upgrades to strengthen learning environments across Osun. At Osun State University, the completion of a 52-unit lecture and administrative complex has expanded institutional capacity amid rising enrollment, while five previously abandoned tertiary projects inherited by the administration have now been completed.

The administration further disclosed that it has secured accreditation for over 100 courses at University of Ilesa, following the release of a take-off grant as well as ongoing campus infrastructure development. The first-ever student hostel built within the institution, according to the governor’s statement, has reduced student housing pressure, while the absorption of temporary staff into permanent roles has aided workforce stability.

The Governor’s reforms in teachers’ welfare earned strong validation from the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), which confirmed regular payments of entitlements, benefits, and workforce development training in modern teaching methods. As a result of the sustained efforts, Osun’s national examination rating reportedly advanced from number 33 to number 7 nationwide.

In addition, bursary payments for Osun indigenes enrolled in the Nigerian Law School have now been restored, particularly for students at the Nigerian Law School, reversing multiple years of suspended support. Beyond local achievements, Osun State students recently represented Nigeria at World Debate Day in Malaysia, pushing Osun’s academic competitiveness onto the world stage.

The administration says it is currently navigating externally imposed funding constraints as it prepares to release appointment letters for new teachers to address personnel shortages in schools statewide. The governor assured that appointment letters will be issued in due course, signaling continued intervention to consolidate learning gains across the state.

The education scorecard was issued by Governor Ademola Adeleke himself, whose statement was signed off directly, reaffirming the government’s resolve to drive long-term public-alumni and public-private partnerships via the newly introduced Government–Alumni Partnership Board for school development in Osun.

The governor insists that the results speak for themselves, describing Osun’s rise in national examination ratings as “unmistakable” within the span of three years.
