….As Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion Marks Historic Expansion
History will be made on Sunday, 9 November 2025, at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp, Gwarinpa, Abuja, as fifteen new bishops will be consecrated in the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion). It will be a day of divine celebration — a spiritual milestone that signals the continued growth and missionary strength of one of Africa’s most vibrant Christian institutions.
Reflecting on the moment, the Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria, Most Revd Henry Ndukuba said:
“The call to episcopal service is a sacred trust, not a title. These bishops are being sent forth as shepherds and soldiers of Christ – to heal, to teach, and to rebuild faith across our land. “The Decade of the Rule of God” is not merely a vision; it is a mission to bring every family, every community, and every heart under the transforming power of Christ.”
This epoch-making event underscores the Primate’s reformative leadership and his deep commitment to spiritual renewal across the nation. Since his first television interview on Advent Cable Network Nigeria Television (ACNNTV) on 1 May 2020, Archbishop Ndukuba’s declaration of “The Decade of the Rule of God” has remained a rallying cry for evangelism, discipleship, and revival – a transformative movement intended to awaken the nation to faith and righteousness.
The creation of five new full-fledged dioceses and ten missionary dioceses represents a landmark moment in the Church’s history. It demonstrates a deliberate expansion of its mission fields – a testament to the Church’s enduring resolve to bring the Gospel to every corner of Nigeria and beyond.
The consecration of these fifteen bishops marks not just an ecclesiastical expansion, but the strengthening of a divine mission that binds faith with service. As they march into their fields of labour, they carry with them the Church’s eternal charge – to preach, to heal, and to renew.
Concluding the message, the Primate offered a solemn reflection drawn from Scripture, saying:
“As the Lord told Joshua, ‘Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’ (Joshua 1:9) These new bishops go forth not in their strength but in the strength of Him who has called them.”
The Church of Nigeria thus stands once again at the threshold of history – firm in faith, rich in heritage, and resolute in its mission to make disciples of all nations.
