Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Thursday paid an unscheduled inspection visit to the Ibom Icon Hotel & Golf Resort to assess the pace and quality of ongoing renovation work at the hospitality facility.
The Governor was received and conducted round the project by the Delivery Advisor on Tourism and Managing Director of the hotel, Sir Charles Udoh, who briefed him on the level of work done so far and the expected completion timeline.
Governor Eno, who expressed satisfaction with the progress made, urged the contracting firm to accelerate efforts to ensure that the renovation is completed ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities, noting that the hotel remains a key tourism and hospitality attraction in the state.
The Governor also visited the Marina axis of the hotel, where he disclosed that some activities for the yuletide season will be hosted to boost leisure, relaxation, and tourism patronage during the festive period.
He emphasized his administration’s commitment to strengthening the state’s tourism value chain and promoting Akwa Ibom as a prime destination for business, leisure, and hospitality.
Accompanying the Governor were the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Advisor, Mr. Aniefiok Johnson; Dean of Commissioners and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong; Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia; and the Managing Director/CEO of Hensek Integrated Services, Engr. Uwem Okoko, among other officials.
