The Osun State Government has officially approved the establishment of the Ajegunle International Automobile Spare Parts Village, marking a significant milestone for tradesmen and artisans across the state.
The approval followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the State Government and the Ajegunle Tradesmen and Artisans Association of Osun State on Monday in Osogbo.
The Association, led by its Board of Trustees Chairman, Alhaji Kamorudeen Adesina, had approached the government through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, requesting the allocation of 7.3 hectares of land to develop what is set to become one of the largest organized automobile spare parts markets in the region.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, representatives of the State Government emphasized that the project aligns with Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke’s economic expansion agenda, particularly in promoting local enterprise, job creation, and structured commercial growth.
The Ajegunle International Automobile Spare Parts Village is expected to:
- Create thousands of direct and indirect jobs
- Enhance ease of access to essential spare parts for motorists across South-West Nigeria
- Reduce reliance on fragmented roadside mechanic clusters
- Boost local revenue and trade opportunities
- Provide a modern, secure, and centralized market facility for artisans and traders
Alhaji Kamorudeen Adesina, speaking on behalf of the Association, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Adeleke for his support, describing the approval as “a turning point for tradesmen and artisans in Osun State.”
Construction of the spare parts village is expected to commence shortly, with stakeholders assuring that the project will meet modern standards and contribute meaningfully to the state’s commercial infrastructure.
Newspot Nigeria will continue to monitor developments on this landmark project and provide updates as they unfold.
