President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally forwarded the name of Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro to the Senate for confirmation as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The nomination comes as a replacement for Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, who was elected as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July 2025 after previously serving as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro brings over two decades of multidisciplinary experience spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
He holds multiple advanced degrees, including a Bachelor’s in Pharmacy, a Law degree, an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice. Dr. Doro is also a certified Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), where he has served in various capacities across urgent care units, walk-in centres, general practice clinics, and hospital settings.
Beyond his professional work, Dr. Doro has demonstrated a strong passion for community development, youth mentorship, and social impact initiatives both in Nigeria and among the diaspora. His appointment has been widely interpreted as a strategic move by President Tinubu to maintain representation from Plateau State in the Federal Executive Council following Yilwatda’s transition to the APC leadership.
The Senate is expected to commence the screening and confirmation process for Dr. Doro’s nomination in the coming days. Political observers note that his diverse professional background and leadership record may prove valuable to the Tinubu administration’s ongoing reforms in health, education, and human capital development.
Newspot Nigeria confirms that multiple credible sources have verified this nomination and Dr. Doro’s professional credentials, though the appointment remains subject to Senate confirmation.
