The President of the Emeka Charles Kalu Foundation (ECK), Chief Dr. Emeka Charles Kalu, has commended Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for what he described as a “listening leadership” following the inclusion of Bende Local Government Area in the state’s comprehensive electricity roadmap.
Chief Kalu’s commendation comes shortly after he issued an open letter urging the governor to address the long-standing electricity challenges in Bende. The swift response by Governor Otti, according to Kalu, underscores a renewed sense of purpose in Abia’s development drive.
“Governor Alex Otti is a listening governor who remains focused on delivering the dividends of democracy and good governance to the people of Abia State despite distractions,” Kalu stated.
He expressed delight at the administration’s proactive measures, adding that the governor’s inclusion of Bende in the power roadmap demonstrates a genuine commitment to improving citizens’ welfare and boosting economic activities in rural communities.
The initiative forms part of Abia’s broader power development agenda, which includes the release of funds for electricity restoration in Ohafia Local Government Area and the state’s plan to acquire a 60% stake in the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) operations within Abia. The acquisition aims to ensure steady and sustainable power supply across Abia North, particularly in Ohafia and Bende.
Chief Kalu urged residents to continue supporting the administration’s efforts, emphasizing that Governor Otti’s policies reflect a people-oriented approach to governance.
“The Governor’s quick response to our plea gives hope that the era of neglect is ending. We now see a government committed to rebuilding Abia for all,” he added.
Newspot Nigeria commends Governor Alex Otti’s strategic inclusion of Bende in Abia’s electricity plan as a significant step toward equitable development and inclusive growth across the state.
