— Reassures residents of strengthened security and continued development
The Oyo State Government has called on residents of the Oke-Ogun zone to actively contribute to the preparation of the 2026 fiscal year budget, emphasizing that inclusive governance remains central to the administration’s planning process.
Speaking during the 2026 Stakeholders’ Consultative Meeting held at the Saki Township Hall, the Deputy Governor, Barr. Adebayo Lawal, urged citizens to make meaningful submissions to ensure that the proposed budget reflects the needs and aspirations of the people.
Lawal explained that the consultative process allows for transparency and accountability in budget formulation while providing updates on the performance of the 2025 budget. He assured participants that previous inputs from citizens had been implemented in earlier budgets and that projects initiated after the 2025 consultation would be completed before the current administration’s tenure ends.
On security, the Deputy Governor reaffirmed the government’s resolve to protect lives and property, stating that measures are in place to strengthen surveillance on key roads, entry and exit points, and other strategic areas across Oke-Ogun. “All hands are on deck to fish out miscreants and deal with them using the instrumentality of the law,” Lawal stressed.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, commended residents for their continued engagement in the budgeting process. He emphasized that citizen participation is vital to improving service delivery and achieving sustainable development outcomes.
Babatunde highlighted the importance of fulfilling civic responsibilities, such as prompt tax payment, noting that the success of the budget depends on shared responsibility between government and citizens. He added that similar consultative sessions are being held across all zones of the state to ensure equitable representation in the 2026 budget.
Various groups, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, market women, artisans, and students, presented their submissions during the meeting, emphasizing community priorities ranging from infrastructure and education to healthcare and job creation.
The forum also had in attendance top government functionaries, community leaders, and other stakeholders from the region.
