Promises Compensation and New Police Station for the Community
Akinlalu, Osun State – Governor Ademola Adeleke on Monday paid a condolence visit to the royal father, victims’ families, and residents of Akinlalu Town in Ife North Local Government Area following the killing of three indigenes by operatives of the Amotekun security service. The Governor, who cut short his medical trip abroad, went straight to Akinlalu upon his arrival in Osun State, underscoring the gravity of the tragedy.
He was accompanied by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye; Chief of Staff, Hon. Kazeem Akinleye; and other members of the State Executive Council and House of Assembly.
At the palace of the Alakinlalu of Akinlalu, Oba Israel Oluwabusola Aborisade, the Governor expressed deep sadness over the incident, revealing that he had to cut short his medical stay in the United States to return home and personally condole with the town.
“I am truly sad. I was in the United States when the unfortunate incident happened. I cut short my medical stay. I arrived late yesterday and called my team — we needed to be here to empathize with the victims and their families,”
he said.
Governor Adeleke prayed for the families of the deceased and commended the people of Akinlalu for maintaining peace despite their pain. He emphasized that his administration would ensure justice was served, warning that no one would be above the law.
“I can tell you the perpetrators will face the full wrath of the law. There will be no sacred cows,” the Governor declared. “Any Amotekun officer required by the police for interrogation must cooperate fully. I have directed the Board Chairman of Amotekun Security Service, AIG Wale Abbas (Rtd.), to work closely with investigators and make any officer needed available.”
Reinforcing updates from the police, the Governor confirmed that suspects have been arrested and urged residents to assist the investigation by naming any Amotekun operatives involved in the attack.
“I commend the town for sustaining peace. We will compensate the families of the victims, and as requested, we will build a police station in Akinlalu. This town is part of our development agenda, and suspects will face justice,”
Governor Adeleke added.
In his welcome address, Oba Aborisade thanked the Governor for his quick intervention and ongoing infrastructure projects, including the township road construction.
“Your Excellency, we appreciate this visit. Secure justice for us. We trust your leadership. To my people, I urge continued peace — the suspects will not go unpunished,”
the monarch said.
Also speaking, Hon. Oyewusi Ireyode Akinyode, representing Ife North State Constituency and Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, commended the community for its calm response and urged continued cooperation with security agencies. He emphasized that while Amotekun plays a vital role in community policing, erring officers must face the law.
Earlier, Musbau Adeboye, the Akinlalu Youth Leader, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s developmental projects and the multiple delegations sent to the town during his absence. He presented a position paper outlining the youths’ demands, including:
- Suspension of implicated Amotekun officers.
- Transparent investigation and prosecution.
- Comprehensive compensation for victims’ families.
- Assurance against future harassment.
- Establishment of a permanent police station.
Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said the visit reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to justice, accountability, and peace-driven governance across Osun communities.
