In a major boost to youth empowerment and digital inclusion, the member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Unyime Idem, has donated 100 high-quality laptops and cash grants to 100 beneficiaries who successfully completed a three-day intensive training on ICT and Digital Entrepreneurship.
The programme, fully sponsored by Rep. Idem, covered hotel accommodation and three square meals daily for all participants during the training period. The initiative aimed to equip young people with relevant digital skills and business knowledge to thrive in the evolving global economy.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, Rep. Idem — represented by former Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Paul Udoufia — emphasized that the training was designed to provide tools and confidence for participants to compete and succeed in a technology-driven world.
“You have been empowered with the skills, tools, and contacts to function, compete, expand, and dominate the ICT space,” Idem said. “Use your skills to solve real-world problems, share your knowledge, and continue to innovate.”
He commended Cassell Consultancy Limited for partnering in the project and ensuring impactful training delivery, expressing optimism that the initiative will have a lasting impact on both the beneficiaries and the constituency.
In his remarks, Mr. Michael Adewole, Managing Director of Cassell Consultancy Limited, lauded the participants for their enthusiasm, noting that the programme covered areas such as website development, Artificial Intelligence in business, and data analysis using Excel.
“You’ve gained knowledge that opens doors and sparks possibilities,” Adewole said. “Success in the digital age isn’t just about having skills — it’s about using them to create value and inspire others.”
Beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude to Rep. Idem for his continuous commitment to youth empowerment, pledging to apply their newly acquired ICT skills productively to improve their livelihoods and contribute to community development.
