UYO – Governor Umo Eno has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the partnership between the executive and judicial arms of government, pledging to sustain peace, justice, and security in Akwa Ibom State.

Speaking at a special inter-denominational service at The Believers Assembly (Evang) Nigeria to mark the commencement of the 2025/2026 legal year, Governor Eno praised the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Ekaete Obot, for fostering a “warm and robust collaboration” that has ensured a seamless working relationship.

“We have chosen collaboration in place of contention, respecting the separation of powers, and placing the interests of our people at the center of governance,” the Governor said. He assured that his government would continue to provide a conducive environment for the judiciary to thrive while warning against attempts to disrupt peace in the State.

As part of reforms, Governor Eno announced the recruitment of 1,000 new staff into the judiciary through the State employment portal, stressing transparency in the process. He also revealed budgetary provisions for constructing Evidence Rooms in police stations in Uyo to expedite trials and reduce prison congestion.

The Governor commended the judiciary’s role in maintaining order, urging citizens to seek redress in courts rather than resorting to unlawful acts. He congratulated the judiciary on the new legal year, praying for unity, peace, and youth discipline across the State.

In his sermon, the Prelate of Believers Assembly, Prof. Isaiah Isong, emphasized the rule of law, urging judges and lawyers to uphold truth, justice, and equity. Chief Judge Justice Ekaete Obot, in her remarks, thanked the Governor for investments in judicial infrastructure, including the Judiciary Village, and promised continued partnership for peace and development.

The event underscored the deepening synergy between the judiciary and executive in Akwa Ibom, a relationship many see as pivotal for governance stability.
