President Trump’s Immediate Reaction
President Donald J. Trump posted a series of emotional tributes on Truth Social. Initially, he urged prayers after news emerged Kirk had been shot:
“We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!”
Later, after Kirk’s death was confirmed, President Trump wrote:
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. In a further directive, the President announced that all American flags across the nation would be lowered to half-mast until Sunday evening in Kirk’s honor:

Utah Governor Spencer Cox condemned the attack as a “political assassination.” The FBI and ATF have joined state authorities in investigating the shooting. A person of interest has been detained, but no motive has yet been publicly disclosed.
