The Osun State Government has launched Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service designed to expand digital access for residents, students, businesses, and communities across the state.
The initiative, introduced on September 8, 2025, by the Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy Office under the Office of the Special Adviser, marks a major step toward positioning Osun as a digitally inclusive state.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, while speaking at the launch, described Imole Wi-Fi as a gateway to new opportunities for Osun residents. “Imole Wi-Fi is a gateway to opportunity. With this public digital infrastructure, we are cutting barriers, connecting people, and driving growth across every sector of Osun’s economy,” the governor said.
Special Adviser Mr. Azeez Badmus emphasized that this launch is only the beginning, promising broader access and integration of government services into the platform. “This is just the first step. As we expand Imole Wi-Fi, more government services and sector-specific tools will follow, ensuring that every resident benefits from Osun’s digital future,” he stated.
Currently, the free Wi-Fi is available at key locations such as the Osun State Library, Alphastart Hub, Osun Mall, Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo Grammar School, and offices of the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy.
The benefits cut across several sectors. Students can now join online classes and access research materials, while job seekers and small businesses gain easier access to applications and e-commerce opportunities. Healthcare institutions such as hospitals and clinics can adopt telemedicine solutions and digital records, and farmers will be able to access weather forecasts and market information. Communities are also expected to enjoy enhanced security with connectivity supporting emergency response and safety systems.
The Osun State Government has reiterated that the Imole Wi-Fi initiative is part of a broader vision to strengthen education, healthcare, employment, and security through digital innovation.
Newspot Nigeria reports that the introduction of Imole Wi-Fi reflects a strong commitment by the Adeleke-led administration to building a digitally connected Osun State where opportunities are within reach for all.
