Full Statement
Earlier today, at the Graduation Ceremony of Qur’an Memorization Students organized by the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Qur’an Memorization School, Sokoto State Branch, I had the honor of addressing our esteemed scholars, leaders, and the good people of Sokoto.
I shared with them the progress we have made in advancing religion and strengthening our communities in Sokoto State.
We have remodeled 65 mosques, with 25 of them fully completed, and constructed 15 new Jumu’at mosques across the state.
To ensure the smooth running of these mosques, we have introduced a monthly welfare package of between ₦300,000 and ₦500,000, depending on the needs of each mosque. For the very first time in our history, salaries have been introduced for our Imams (Limams), Mu’azzins (Ladans), and Nai’ibs, in recognition of their invaluable role in guiding our people.
Furthermore, we have provided buses to all Islamic associations and institutions in the state to support their activities and outreach.
At the end of every quarter, Imams now receive ₦200,000 and 10 bags of maize, while Ladans and Nai’ibs each receive ₦50,000 and 5 bags of maize. These measures are deliberate efforts to support, encourage, and respect our religious leaders.
Brothers and sisters, Religious and Faith Advancement is the second priority in our 9-Point Agenda. We will continue to uphold our values, empower our scholars, and strengthen the institutions that preserve our faith.
Together, let us build a Sokoto State that is stronger, more united, and firmly rooted in faith, unity, and progress.
