The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, has commenced the sorting and distribution of sensitive materials ahead of the local government council elections scheduled for tomorrow, August 30, 2025.
Daily Post reports that the deployment of security personnel and ad-hoc staff to various local government areas has also begun.
The election materials are being escorted by security agencies, with some political party representatives accompanying the process.
A large crowd was observed at the RSIEC office, which has remained busy throughout the day.
Some individuals who applied as ad-hoc staff were seen trooping in to verify their names, while election observers, monitors, and journalists carried out accreditation exercises.
Meanwhile, movement into the RSIEC premises has been restricted, with heavy security presence within and around the commission’s headquarters.
