In a decisive move to curb absenteeism and promote punctuality, the Oyo State College of Nursing Sciences, Eleyele, Ibadan, has installed clock-in devices for its staff members. The initiative, announced by the College Provost, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi, aims to ensure that workers take their duties seriously and remain at their posts during work hours.
Speaking during a staff address on Tuesday, Dr. Owolabi revealed that her unannounced visits to various departments had uncovered cases of absenteeism, with some offices closed during official working hours. She expressed confidence that the new clock-in system would put an end to such practices.
“This is part of the reasons for the installation of the clock-in device in our school; it is to ensure that workers are at their duty posts to attend to their duties,” the Provost stated.
She further disclosed that the system will be extended to the College’s other campuses in Kishi and Oyo town, reinforcing a culture of punctuality and accountability across all branches.
Dr. Owolabi also underscored the Seyi Makinde-led administration’s commitment to improving both education and healthcare in Oyo State, stressing that quality health services can only be achieved through quality education and effective workforce management.
She encouraged the College’s management team and department heads to ensure full compliance with the clock-in procedure and to lead by example in punctuality.
Newspot Nigeria notes that this initiative aligns with broader government reforms aimed at improving service delivery in key public institutions.
