We, the undersigned citizens and advocates for transparent governance, stand in full solidarity with The Concerned Citizens and Staff of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) who have courageously petitioned His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over deeply troubling allegations of corruption, abuse of office, and gross mismanagement by the current Managing Director of the FHA, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, who is reportedly related by marriage to President Tinubu.
At a time when Nigerians are calling for greater accountability and reform across all public institutions, the allegations surrounding the FHA represent a serious breach of public trust. The Federal Housing Authority—mandated to provide affordable and accessible housing for Nigerians—should serve as a beacon of integrity and service, not a refuge for impunity and misconduct.
According to the petitioners, the alleged actions point to a systemic failure in oversight and internal controls. These include, but are not limited to:
- ✅ Financial irregularities and unauthorized expenditures
- ✅ Abuse of office and favoritism in contract awards
- ✅ Neglect of staff welfare and intimidation of whistleblowers
- ✅ Undermining of long-term housing development strategies for personal or political gain
If these allegations are substantiated, they endanger not just the operations of the FHA but also the lives and futures of countless Nigerians who depend on the institution for housing, employment, and economic opportunity.
We therefore call on:
🔹 President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to act swiftly and authorize an independent, transparent investigation to restore public confidence in the FHA.
🔹 The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to conduct a thorough and impartial probe into the allegations, ensuring that accountability is upheld without fear or favor.
🔹 Civil society organizations, media platforms, and human rights groups to amplify the voices of brave whistleblowers within the FHA and ensure that this case does not fade from public view.
This issue goes beyond the FHA—it is about the soul of our public institutions. If agencies as critical as the FHA can be compromised without consequence, then the promise of Renewed Hope and national transformation is in jeopardy.
We commend the Concerned Citizens and Staff of the FHA for their courage and patriotism. Nigeria needs more citizens like you who are willing to speak truth to power in defense of the common good. The fight against corruption must start with listening to those who risk everything to expose it.
