Jega stated this at a distinguished personality lecture with the theme: The Political Economy of Livestock Development in Nigeria: Challenges and Prospects, at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Kwara State, on Monday.

Newspot reports that the lecture was part of activities commemorating the university’s 50th anniversary and was held in honour of Senator Saliu Mustapha.

The former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) described the increasing clashes between farmers and herders as a product of worsening land pressure, climate change, and poor governance of natural resources, issues that need to be tackled as part of broader livestock sector reforms.

“President Tinubu has demonstrated the willingness and capacity to solve this crisis. What is needed now is stakeholder support, especially from the National Assembly, security agencies, and state actors, to implement evidence-based reforms,” he said.
