San Francisco, California – A tragic domestic incident has sent shockwaves through the Bay Area as authorities confirm that 32-year-old Marvin Duran has been charged with the murder of his own mother and child endangerment involving three minors. The disturbing incident unfolded last Saturday on Brookdale Avenue, a residential neighborhood in San Francisco.
According to a statement released by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, officers from the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) responded to the scene around 3:45 p.m., where they discovered the victim, a woman believed to be Duran’s mother, lying in front of her home with a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene within minutes.
Multiple eyewitnesses reportedly saw Duran fire the fatal shot at close range, further strengthening the prosecution’s case.
Duran has since been arraigned and pleaded not guilty to all charges, which include:
- One count of murder with the added allegation of personally and intentionally using a firearm
- Three counts of child endangerment
A preliminary hearing has been set for July 8, while Duran remains in custody without bail, following the District Attorney’s successful request to deny bail based on public safety concerns.
Investigators are still seeking additional information and have urged the public to come forward.
