A storm of criticism has hit the Presidency’s media operations following a public outburst by Sola Isola, a media aide to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who accused Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, of political bias and unprofessionalism in his handling of presidential communications.
In a strongly worded post that has since gone viral, Isola condemned Onanuga for allegedly refusing to publish a birthday congratulatory message from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Governor Adeleke — a message reportedly signed by Onanuga himself. Despite its significance, the statement was never posted on the adviser’s social media handles.
“The hypocritical and unprofessional political undertone with which you do your job is disappointing,” Isola wrote. “You should not allow yourself to become a tool to be used by those whose hatred for Ademola Adeleke has overtaken their true intention for leadership.”
Isola further questioned why Governor Adeleke’s recent visit to President Tinubu was ignored by Onanuga’s office, while similar or lesser-profile visits — such as those by Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Pastor Tunde Bakare — received wide publicity.
He argued that the failure to give Governor Adeleke the same level of visibility reflects a deeply troubling partisan culture within the presidency’s media operations.
The controversy has stirred debates across party lines, with some commentators suggesting that such omissions risk weakening federal-state relations and damaging public trust in official communication.
As of the time of filing this report, Mr. Onanuga has not issued any public response to the accusations.
