Not less than 20 people have feared dead in an auto crash involving members of the Kano State contingent returning from the just-concluded National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun State.
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday 31 June in Dakatsalle town, about 50 kilometres from Kano, as the team was approaching the final stretch of their journey home.

Details of the cause of the accident remain sketchy at the time of filing this report, but authorities said emergency response teams were deployed to the scene, and the injured taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The Chairman, Kano chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Zahraddeen Saleh confirmed the incident.
He said those that died include the Public Relations Officer of Kano Sports Commission and a photojournalist attached to Express Radio, an online medium.
