Senator Liyel Imoke, a former governor of Cross River State has said that he feels prouder than anyone else following the sterling performance of a star discovered as a result of his sports programme when he was governor.
He said the star, Patience Okon George, set the only outstanding record at the National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
On his verified social media handle, Imoke noted, “It gave me a lot of joy to see a product of my 2009-2015 sports development programme in Cross River State win and set the only record so far at the National Sports Festival held in Abeokuta in the women’s 400-meter race.”
Imoke said that George is the epitome of hard work, dedication and focus on continuous improvement.
Describing George as a legend in the making, the former governor said that “The record is more impressive because there was no real competition. She ran her own race in front and paced herself into the record books.”
From statistics, the state has made impressive showings in Abeokuta compared with previous outings in recent times.
