Bauchi police dismantle fake herbicide factory, arrest five suspects

The Bauchi State Police Command has uncovered a counterfeit herbicide production facility in the Inkil area of Bauchi metropolis, arresting five individuals involved in the illegal operation.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, the raid was carried out on May 3 at about 1:30 p.m. by the Command’s Monitoring Unit, following credible intelligence.

The suspects were apprehended at a residential property in Unguwan Liman, where they had allegedly been producing and packaging fake herbicides. During the raid, police recovered large quantities of counterfeit materials and production tools.

These included 26 cartons labeled “Force Up,” an empty “Gobora” carton, two drums of unidentified liquid substances, 100 empty one-litre containers, sealing tapes, glue, scissors, charcoal, leather materials, and welding equipment.

Further investigations led to the arrest of a 36-year-old man from Fadaman Mada, identified as the suspected ring leader of the illicit operation.

CSP Wakil confirmed that all suspects are currently in custody, and that investigation is ongoing to dismantle the wider network behind the counterfeit business.

He assured the public of the Command’s continued efforts to clamp down on criminal activities that endanger public health and consumer safety.
