The attackers set shops and vehicles on fire and rustled livestock.

Residents said the assault followed a Sunday ambush by local vigilantes that left several bandits dead and led to the recovery of stolen cattle.

“They came at dawn, torched our shops and vehicles, and made away with our animals,” a resident told Daily Trust.

Security forces stationed in nearby Magami responded quickly and repelled the attackers, preventing further destruction.

This is the latest in a string of retaliatory attacks across Zamfara.

In Tsafe LGA, several villages have faced similar assaults in recent weeks.

Earlier in the month, bandits attacked Keta village after the killing of gang leader Dan Isuhu. One resident was killed, 11 vehicles were burned, and shops were looted. That same day, gunmen attacked Gidan Arne, killing two and abducting over 40 women.

The Zamfara State Police Command, through DSP Yazid Abubakar, said it had no knowledge of the Yar Tashar Sahabi incident but promised to follow up with the local Divisional Officer.
