🔴 Breaking News:

The plaintiffs argued that the film misrepresented the Eyo Masquerade, an important cultural symbol in Lagos, and depicted the Isale Eko community in a derogatory and inaccurate light. Justice Alakija sided with the claimants, asserting that the movie inflicted harm on the reputation of the Eyo tradition and distorted the peaceful nature of the Isale Eko people.

In the court’s decision, the defendants were instructed to issue a formal apology to the complainants, including the Isale Eko Descendants Union. Additionally, the filmmakers and distributors of *Gang of Lagos* must publicly acknowledge that the film misrepresented the Eyo Masquerade and the traditions of the Isale Eko community. The court emphasized that a written apology must be directed to the affected parties.

This ruling highlights the growing concern over cultural representation in media and the responsibility filmmakers have in portraying communities authentically.
