Aba, Abia State – Jubilant residents of Aba have expressed their heartfelt appreciation to Governor Dr. Alex Otti for his transformative approach to road infrastructure in the city, often referred to as Enyimba City and the commercial nerve center of Abia State. The commendation follows the Governor’s recent inspection of various road projects, which have significantly improved the city’s infrastructure.
During his inspection tour, Governor Otti visited several key roads, including Port-Harcourt Road, Ekeakpara-NNPC Road, Omuma Road, and many others that had long been neglected. Residents gathered to show their support as they chanted solidarity songs, emphasizing that the Governor’s accomplishments in road and drainage repairs speak volumes about his dedication to the people of Aba.
Mr. Titus Ndubuisi, Mr. Nneamaka Enyindiya, and Mrs. Ngozi Okeke, among others, hailed Governor Otti as the “People’s Governor,” noting that he was elected to serve the community. They declared that his ongoing projects have rendered the need for re-election campaigns unnecessary, stating, “The roads and drainages he has fixed are enough campaign for him.”
The residents reflected on the dilapidated state of the city before the Governor’s intervention. They pointed out that no administration in the past 24 years had undertaken such extensive and impactful infrastructure projects.
Governor Otti, visibly pleased with the progress made, highlighted that Abia is poised to reclaim its status among economically advanced states, thanks to the ongoing construction and reconstruction efforts. He urged the Honourable Commissioner for Works to ensure that the contractor on the Ekeakpara-Osisioma Road accelerates the work to meet the community’s needs.
The Governor also commended the quality of the work completed by Julius Berger on Port Harcourt Road, expressing optimism that the road would soon be commissioned. He acknowledged that Aba’s lost glory is being restored, with residents no longer facing the perennial flooding that once plagued the city.
In his address, Governor Otti urged the people of Aba to collaborate with the government in maintaining cleanliness and to avoid littering the drains, which can obstruct the flow of water.
He concluded by thanking the enthusiastic residents for their unwavering support for both the contractors and his administration, assuring them of more progress in the days ahead.
