From our days in the National Republican Convention, through President Obasanjo’s administration, and into President Jonathan’s tenure, we walked side by side. Our bond transcended the political realm, evolving into true brotherhood.
Dr. Okupe was a man of rare courage and unwavering commitment to the betterment of Nigeria. His life was a testament to his deep faith, with his actions always guided by an unshakeable belief in God. He faced challenges with resilience, leading with humility, wisdom, and a profound reverence for the divine. His dedication to uplifting others shone brightly, marking him as a true servant-leader.
His intellectual capacity was remarkable, a beacon in our political landscape. He possessed great wisdom, providing invaluable counsel and sharp insights. His absence leaves a void that will be difficult, if not impossible, to fill.
Today, I mourn not just a political leader but a dear brother. The pain of his loss is immense, reflecting the profound impact he had on my life.
