🔴 Breaking News:

Leading up to the elections, there has been violence, resulting in the deaths of six people, including Prince Remi Abass, a former local government chairman. This has caused fear among residents as the election day arrives.

The controversy stems from a court ruling on February 10 that overturned a previous decision about the 2022 council elections. This has led to a heated argument between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC). The APC believes their officials should stay, while the PDP says new elections are needed.

The Nigeria Police Force has warned of possible violence and advised the government to postpone the elections, but Governor Ademola Adeleke insists on following the legal process and holding the elections.

The APC and another party, the Allied People’s Movement, have decided to boycott the election, pointing to the recent court decision. There have also been reports of a heavily guarded and deserted OSSIEC headquarters, raising concerns about security measures.

Despite these obstacles, Governor Adeleke is determined to proceed with the elections, as a court has ordered OSSIEC to continue, declaring all local government positions vacant.

As voting begins, residents are anxiously watching how this election will unfold, as it could have a big impact on the political scene in Osun State.
