The immediate past US President, Joe Biden, has expressed delight over the release of Sagui Dekel-Chen and two other Israeli hostages.
Hamas had on Saturday released Sagui Dekel-Chen, an Israeli-American, alongside Yair Horn, Alexander Trupanov after spending at least 498 painful days in captivity.
Reacting to the development, the former US President said in a post on his official X handle that “Jill and I are relieved, alongside millions of others around the world, that Sagui Dekel-Chen is finally reunited with his family after 498 painful days”.
Biden said he is “proud that the deal we negotiated” paved the way for the release of the hostages.
Biden also stated that his thoughts and prayers are with the remaining hostages in Gaza, hoping that “all will be reunited in the weeks ahead”.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office, Israel is also expected to release 369 Palestinian prisoners in the next few days.
