China on Wednesday reiterated its opposition to what it called ‘forced displacement’ of Palestinians.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said this while responding to a question when asked about United States President Donald Trump’s plan to move Gaza’s inhabitants elsewhere.
“Gaza belongs to the Palestinians and is an integral part of the Palestinian territory… We oppose the forced displacement of the people of Gaza,” Jiakun told a regular press briefing.
Newspot reports that Trump has been doubling down on his comments about a Gaza takeover by the United States.
Last week, Trump said he may give parts of Gaza to other countries in the Middle East.
According to him, the war-ravaged enclave, Gaza, should be thought of as a “big real estate site”.
On Tuesday, Trump again insisted that US will take control of the Gaza Strip.
The Republican said this as he met with Jordan’s King Abdullah at the White House.
“We are going to take it [Gaza],” Trump said. “We are going to hold it. We are going to cherish it.”
